Updated Skin Care Routine!

It’s all about updates for now.

I’ve been using quite a bit of new skin and hair products, so I thought I’d share them with you. Today, I’m just going to focus on skin.

Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect Scrub Foam

Easily my new favorite facial scrub. This product is pretty cool because you can choose the level of exfoliation by the amount of water you add before you apply it. You can apply it straight to your face for more exfoliation or add water to just use it as a foam cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling super clean, not dry and smells really nice!

Freshmade Coconut Mask

Skinfood Freshmade Coconut Mask

This product actually surprised me. What do you think of when a product is a mask? I thought this was going to be a thicker formulation, something that stays on your face for 10-15 minutes before you wash it off (think SheaMoisture clay masks), but that’s not at all what you get here. This ‘mask’ is a super lightweight, jelly-like consistency. It’s described as ‘bursting moisture droplets’, which is pretty accurate. When you apply it, you can feel it almost melting right into the skin. It absorbs super quickly, leaves no residue and instantly hydrates.

SheaMoisture Coconut Oil Coffee Scrub

The only new non-facial product on my list. I needed a new body scrub, I’m trying to get the KP on the legs back under control after mostly ignoring it in winter and spring. I decided to try this one because it is supposed to soften and restore, and it’s a coffee scrub… my favorite kind. This scrub is actually coffee grinds… straight up, no liquid in there, nothing binding the grinds together, just coffee grinds. I’m assuming the coconut oil is infused somewhere. It actually makes your shower smell like freshly brewed coffee, which is great for any morning shower people! I’m loving this scrub. Not only does it smell great when you use it, it really does leave your skin amazingly soft.

Those are all my new skin care products at the moment. What are some of your faves for summer?

July Ulta Haul!

Wooooo! The best time, Ulta haul time!

julyultahaul

I actually split this haul into two days. One day one I bought two new Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks in Uptight and Conspiracy (reviews coming soon),  Ulta Vanilla Sugar body scrub, and another Batiste dry shampoo. On day two, I bought the jumbo Redken All Soft Conditioner.

I love the Ulta body scrubs, they’re sugar scrubs and on clearance pretty often. I always grab them if I see them on sale. I got this one for $2.97! Awesome price, the last one I got was around $5.

In terms of hair, if you like Redken and other salon brands, jumbo sizes are on sale! They start at $12.99, but vary by brand. The Redken was $15.99, plus you get a free pump (normally $3) and I used the $3.50 off $15 coupon, so I got it for around $13.00! It’s normally $32! So I’m super pumped about it. If you saw my last hair haul, I bought the normal size All Soft conditioner, which was $16.50… so this is a crazy good deal. Not sure when the sale ends, so hurry!

Isabella’s Clearly CALM Review!

Disclaimer: This item was sent to me for review

I love body scrubs and exfoliators, so I was excited to try this one from Isabella’s Clearly!

Here are the ingredients: A proprietary blend of Almond oil with Eucalyptus, Tea tree, Lavender, Yarrow, Ravensara, Calamus, Myrrh, Rosemary essential oils and Dead Sea Salt Crystals

It is also Sulfates, Phthalates, Paraben, DEA, Formaldehyde and PEG free, 100% vegan and never tested on animals!

The directions say: Massage the scrub on your body gently with circular movements and rinse with warm water. May also be used as invigorating bath salt.

First and foremost lets talk about the scent. It actually smells kind of like a spa… it’s hard to explain but if you’ve ever been in a spa you’ll probably know what I’m talking about. I think most spas have that spa smell. It’s not overwhelming, unless you stick your face into the actual container, which I did at first. I don’t suggest doing that. But once you’re using the product it’s a really nice, calming scent.

I really like the texture of this product. Because it has the sea salt crystals, it really feels like its doing a good job of exfoliating. It did clump together a little bit after the first use, so you might have to break it up every so often.

I used it while I was in the shower, and tested it primarily on my legs and arms. When you massage it into your skin, you get that exfoliation, but the salt also starts to melt and the essential oils get massaged into your skin. I thought that was great. But I did find that if you are too wet, the sea salt melts very quickly and you get less of that exfoliation, so just be aware of that.

Overall, I really like this product. I’ve been using it and will continue to use it! If you’re looking for a natural body scrub, you can find this on Amazon.
