Born Pretty Store Blue Chrome Powder Review!

So, I bought this set of Born Pretty Store powders back in December/January. I had tried them over white and lighter colors, but I finally got to try one over black!

I decided to try he blue first. As my base I have Zoya Willa, which is just black. Then I used my Aora base and tops coats along with the powder. It is like the other chrome powders, so you do need to use it with gel.

When you first apply it over the gel base it isn’t very shiny, but it comes alive when you add the top coat.

I was actually very impressed with the quality of the powder itself, it is very finely milled so you get nice, even coverage. You don’t see any large particles or anything like that.

The color is beautiful, it’s similar to a Zoya Neve, which I love.

Overall, I’m very impressed! I love this color and I’m excited to use the others!

NOTD: Mix and Match!

I haven’t done a NOTD in a lonnnnng while, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with chrome powders!

So, there is a lot going on here. On my pointer I have a base of two coats of Zoya Eastyn, then I used Sparkle & Co gel top coat and new rose gold chrome powder! On my middle and ring fingers, I have a base of two coats of Zoya Megan. I topped off my middle finger with Sparkle & Co gel top coat and then added the Born Pretty Store blue, purple and gold opalescent powders (you can see the blue/purple shift in the photo). On my ring finger I used some silver leaf topped with Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat. My pinky is two coats of Zoya Willa, accented with a rose gold stud an topped with Essie Good To Go,

I also had to show you my thumb! My base is two coats of Zoya Megan, then I used Zoya Alicia to create the drips, topped with Essie Good To Go.

Overall, I really like it! What do you think?

I’ve been using gel and chrome powders a lot lately, so I’m trying to transition back into more regular polishes and nail art. I have some things in mind and will try to get back into the NOTD groove.

Amazon Nail Art Haul!

I had a $50 Amazon gift card burning a hole in my pocket, so I decided to use most of it on some nail art stuff that I’ve been wanting!

I got a silicon mat for stamping, and a clear stamper.

Then I got a pack of 5 opalescent powders and a silicon tool for them and my chrome powders. You get 5 colors: blue, purple, green, pink and yellow, I’ve labeled then with letter so I know which is which lol.

Finally, I couldn’t not get some glitter! I got this pack of 12 different glitter combinations. Each container has three different size round glitters.

So far, I’ve used the blue opalescent powder over white polish. It turned the white more into a cream, but it did give it a blue flash/undertone, which was really cool. I need to test them over black to see them better though.

I also used some of the glitter on a friend of mine, and I love them! I did kind of like a gradient over black and it came out really cool!

Please ignore our ugly tablecloth lol. That glitter looks great though! I’m really happy with everything I’ve bought so far.

NOTD: Tropical Gradient!

I’ve been pondering a gradient for a while now, and this warm weather has definitely inspired me lately.

sunsetgradientFor my pointer and pinky (and thumb) I have two coats of China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle, which I’ve been loving recently. On my middle and ring I have a base coat of Zoya Purity then I did the gradient with Zoya Caitlin, Essie The More The Merrier, Zoya Arizona and Trind Caring Color Mellow Yellow.

I just used a regular makeup sponge for the gradient and the rhinestones that I used are from Born Pretty Store. I also topped everything off with Essie Good To Go.

I’m super happy with how this gradient came out, it reminds me of sunsets and the beach and warm weather! Perfect way to celebrate the 80 degree weather this week!

Oh and Happy May the 4th, everyone!

NOTD: Tropical Florals!

More inspiration! I’m so tired of this not warm weather that I thought I’d take my nails right into summer… I’m about ready to skip spring altogether!

tropicalfloralMy base is two coats of Zoya Sailor. For the flowers, I used some new nail art brushes and Zoya Purity, Zoya Arizona and Essie Snap Happy. For the leaves, I used the nail art brushes again and Essie The More The Merrier and OPI Amazon Amazoff. Then I used a dotting tool and Zoya Raven for the black dots in the middle of the flowers. I felt that my pointer and pinky were unfinished, so I added gold studs! Topped everything off with a nice coat of Essie Good To Go.

I’m seriously obsessed with these. I can’t stop looking at them and they make me feel like it’s not 30 degrees in the morning haha what do you guys think?

NOTD: Studs All Over!

After my last mani, I realized that I really like light colors on this shape, so I hastily painted my nails white in preparation for a water color mani. When that failed, I was left with white nails in 60 degree weather. Not okay. So this happened…

My base is two coats of Zoya Purity, then I studded the crap out of my ring fingers with by studs from teh Born Pretty Store. Topped it all off with Essie Good to Go and done! Easy peasy.

I really like the way it came out, and the mixture of gold, silver, round and square studs. I was going to use larger square studs that I got from Dollar Nail Art but they’re just too big for my nails.

Life Gave Me Lemons

This citrusy lemon-lime hits the spot every time!

OPI announces the launch of six new neon nail lacquers, the brand’s first full-size neon shades, along with Put a Coat On! – a special white base coat that instantly boosts neon color. Neons by OPI arrives just in time for summer, with electric hues in shades of lemon-lime, tangerine, hot pink, coral, lime and purple.

“With hands and feet constantly on display during warmer months, wearing nail lacquer is a must,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP.  “I am a big fan of bright colors for summer, and Neons by OPI delivers a bold look that pairs perfectly with sun-kissed skin. To really make the neon shades pop, I recommend using Put a Coat On!, a new white base coat developed to be worn with bright lacquer hues to further enhance color.

“These six shades are the first full-size neons OPI has ever released,” adds Weiss-Fischmann.  “With large demand for new bright lacquers, this collection is a welcome addition to OPI’s permanent line.”

What do you guys think? I’m waiting to see swatches but Life Gave Me Lemons looks promising and I really like Down to the Core-al.

#LLglam! Glam Rock!

When you say ‘glam’ I think… glam rock! That’s just how I roll lol

And this happened! Pretty long list of products, so here I go. The pink I used is Color Club Raspberry Rush (it is scented lol), my green is Essie the More the Merrier, black is Milani Black Magic, gold is OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby.

I also used my Konad M57 plate for the zebra and leopard print with the Konad black stamping polish. The studs and rhinestones are from Born Pretty Store. I freehanded the lightening bolt on my pinky with Love.Angel.Music.Baby, and I filled in the leopard spots with a light metallic brown by Milani (the name sticker peeled off).

Then topped everything off with Seche Vite!

Love how this came out. Love everything about it. I obviously took inspiration from hair metal and glam rock bands. Pointer is specifically Twisted Sister with that crazy pink and blue makeup Dee wore lol

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Hope your day is filled with corned beef and cabbage and beer! Here’s my mani to celebrate:

On my pointer and pinky I have two coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby, and on my middle and ring I have two coats of Wet n Wild Megalast Poison Ivy. Then I used some studs from Born Pretty Store on my middle finger and a coat of OPI When Monkeys Fly on my ring finger. The large glitter in When Monkeys Fly can sometimes be curled, so I decided to hand place those randomly and press them down no edges would stick up and encourage picking lol. And, of course, I topped everything off with Seche Vite.

Happy St. Paddy’s!

#LLadoration! Studded (Zoya) Neve!

So I had a really difficult time with January’s Lacquer Legion theme and ended up not even doing it, but I had to do it this month! I couldn’t decide what to do for a while, and originally I wanted to do something with cats lol then changed my mind and decided to do an homage to my favorite color and nail accessory as of late!

Here I have a two coats of Neve, love that glowy blue! Then I added gold studs from Born Pretty Store, and topped it off with one coat of NYC Grand Central Station.

You may also notice that my nails are also (GASP) rounded! I’ve been dealing with some shaping issues, I went from almond to oval to rounded in the last week, which is another thing I adore about nails- the way shape can change up your whole look.
