Aora Aurora Chrome Powder Review!

Yes, I wholeheartedly jumped onto the chrome powder train. This has to be my favorite one yet.

Props to the boyfriend for getting this for me for Christmas! I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to review it. It is gorgeous. It is a multichrome chrome power. It shifts from green to blue to purple to pink/orange. In the picture you can see some of the spectrum, it does not do it justice though.

I use it with the Aora gel base and top coat. Out of all the chrome powders that I’ve tried so far, this one has the best application. It applied like a dream. It is milled super fine, a little goes a long way and one swipe with your finger leaves it super shiny and chrome before you even use the top coat. I like to apply it with a silicon tool, then use my finger to smooth it all out. Then just lock in that shine with top coat.

I’m in love with this one. I love a green-blue-purple shift in general, but this takes it to the next level.

Born Pretty Store Blue Chrome Powder Review!

So, I bought this set of Born Pretty Store powders back in December/January. I had tried them over white and lighter colors, but I finally got to try one over black!

I decided to try he blue first. As my base I have Zoya Willa, which is just black. Then I used my Aora base and tops coats along with the powder. It is like the other chrome powders, so you do need to use it with gel.

When you first apply it over the gel base it isn’t very shiny, but it comes alive when you add the top coat.

I was actually very impressed with the quality of the powder itself, it is very finely milled so you get nice, even coverage. You don’t see any large particles or anything like that.

The color is beautiful, it’s similar to a Zoya Neve, which I love.

Overall, I’m very impressed! I love this color and I’m excited to use the others!

NOTD: Mix and Match!

I haven’t done a NOTD in a lonnnnng while, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with chrome powders!

So, there is a lot going on here. On my pointer I have a base of two coats of Zoya Eastyn, then I used Sparkle & Co gel top coat and new rose gold chrome powder! On my middle and ring fingers, I have a base of two coats of Zoya Megan. I topped off my middle finger with Sparkle & Co gel top coat and then added the Born Pretty Store blue, purple and gold opalescent powders (you can see the blue/purple shift in the photo). On my ring finger I used some silver leaf topped with Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat. My pinky is two coats of Zoya Willa, accented with a rose gold stud an topped with Essie Good To Go,

I also had to show you my thumb! My base is two coats of Zoya Megan, then I used Zoya Alicia to create the drips, topped with Essie Good To Go.

Overall, I really like it! What do you think?

I’ve been using gel and chrome powders a lot lately, so I’m trying to transition back into more regular polishes and nail art. I have some things in mind and will try to get back into the NOTD groove.

NOTD: Nude and Rose Gold Chrome!

I’ve jumped back on the chrome train!

Direct light

Indirect light

So, on my thumb, pointer and pinky I have two coats of Zoya Sooki as my base. I let that dry for 24 hours then used the Sparkle & Co silver chrome powder and top coat. On my middle and ring fingers I have two coats of Zoya Avery, topped with Essie Good to Go.

I wanted to show you how it looks in direct and indirect light. The direct light is my light box, so you can see the some of particles of the powder. In indirect light, which is normal, everyday light, you can see that it is very chrome and does have that mirror effect.

I love how the chrome powder turns rose gold over the red, so pretty. and shiny! What do you think?

Sparkle & Co Mirror Chrome Powder!

I’m sure most of you have seen the chrome nails trend on Instagram… well, I don’t know about you, but I had to try it out myself!

I did research for days on which chrome powder to buy, I finally decided on the kit from Sparkle & Co. I ordered the smaller kit it from Amazon. It contained the powder, an applicator, test nails, their gel top coat and directions.

the first thing I decided to do was test it on regular polish because I didn’t want to go out and buy gel polish in every color. I tested it on polish, red polish and just the white test nail.

So what I did was paint a coat or two of the regular polish and let it dry completely. Then I added a coat of the gel top coat and cured in an LED lamp for 60 seconds (as per directions). Then I applied the chrome powder.

As you can see, the color is different depending on what base you use, which is really cool. Over black you get that true silver, over red you get more of a rose gold and over white it’s a lighter silver.

Once I decided that it would work over regular polish, I had to test it on myself!

So what I did was used Zoya Willa as my base, then did a coat of the Sparkle & Co gel top coat and cured for 60 seconds in an LED lamp. Right after curing I applied the chrome powder with the applicator that came in the kit, brushed away access powder, applied another coat of the gel and cured for another 60 seconds.I decided to do another coat of the chrome powder for extra opacity, then applied a 3rd layer of the gel and did a final 60 second cure.

Phew! The one good thing about gel is that there is no dry time! Love that about it. So, I’m pretty impressed. In the light you can see some of the chrome powder particles, but in the low light it looks totally mirrored, it’s crazy. I’m loving this look!

I’m actually really debating about buying two other chrome powders, I think they are so cool. what do you think?
