NOTD: Springtime Silver!

Two NOTDs in the same week?! What is happening?!

springtimesilver | by themani-ac

My base is one coat of Zoya Purity, then I sponged on more Purity, Zoya Megan and China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle. The sponging created a soft, almost gradient effect for my background. After that was set, I topped it with Seche Vite and let it dry. Once dry, I applied thin coats of Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat to random parts of my nail (one nail at a time) and then added the silver leaf. I just used my finger to apply it and rub it in to create that distressed-ish effect.

I was very in the mood for it to be spring already, and this was very fitting for that. I love the color combo of that minty blue/green and metallic silver. What do you think?

NOTD: Nude and Rose Gold Chrome!

I’ve jumped back on the chrome train!

Direct light

Indirect light

So, on my thumb, pointer and pinky I have two coats of Zoya Sooki as my base. I let that dry for 24 hours then used the Sparkle & Co silver chrome powder and top coat. On my middle and ring fingers I have two coats of Zoya Avery, topped with Essie Good to Go.

I wanted to show you how it looks in direct and indirect light. The direct light is my light box, so you can see the some of particles of the powder. In indirect light, which is normal, everyday light, you can see that it is very chrome and does have that mirror effect.

I love how the chrome powder turns rose gold over the red, so pretty. and shiny! What do you think?

NOTD: Bronze Ruffian!

Man, it’s been a while! I’ve been slacking, I’ve also been really uninspired, but I was feeling fall-ish so I had to do something!

So, my base is two coats of Zoya Lake. Over top, I have two coats of Essie Leggy Legend. Super simple, but it gets that fall feeling across. Leggy Legend is the perfect fall bronze!

What are your favorite colors to wear in the fall?

Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks Swatches and Review!

This purchase was a very long time coming!

Left to right: Midi, Creeper, Maneater, Hutch and Alyssa

I decided to get 2 of the Ultra Mattes, that is what they are known for. I also got 2 Ultra Satins and I HAD to get an Ultra Metallic! So I have a nice mix.

I love them.

  • Midi is an Ultra Matte, it’s a soft neutral beige
  • Creeper is an Ultra Matte, it’s a classic blue red
  • Maneater is an Ultra Metallic, it’s a rose gold-ish neutral
  • Hutch is an Ultra Satin, it’s a blackened blackberry/raspberry color
  • Alyssa is an Ultra Satin, it’s a neutral, dusty pink. On me, this was a your-lips-but-better color.

The first question probably is ‘what is the difference between the mattes and satins?’…. honestly, the finish is pretty similar to me. The satin is supposed to be more of a velvety finish, it was a bit softer than the matte, but nothing crazy different. The mattes do dry a lot faster than the satin, it’s almost instant.

The metallic is also matte, but it stays metallic and shiny and amazing!

I’ve worn both Midi and Alyssa out, I found them both to last well. I did eat on both occasions and I did end up wiping most of it off lol, but I didn’t see a lot of product coming off when I was drinking.

They were both comfortable to wear, not too drying. Midi, being a matte, was definitely a bit more drying than Alyssa, a satin. If you’re sensitive to dryness, I would go with the satins.

Overall, I’m really happy with all of these and I cannot wait to wear them! Especially Hutch and Meaneater! All the colors are pigmented and lovely, and at $6 a piece you really cannot go wrong!

Have you tried Colourpop? What are your favorite shades?

NOTD: Metallic Ruffian!

I’ve been in a serious rut lately, hence all the sale posts. But I had a holiday party coming up, so I had to do something! I decided to recreate an oldie, but goodie (I actually did my nails once last week, but it photographed horribly so I never posted it. Sigh).

Ahh something simple. My base is one coat of Nails Inc Chelsea Bridge Road, and then I went over top with Zoya Chantal to create the ruffian.

I did a mani like a few years ago, back when my nails were square! I hardly even remember those days. But anyway, I liked it then and I like it now!

So, hopefully this gets me slightly out of my rut. Honestly, I think it’s because I know I’m getting a bunch of ILNP polishes for Christmas and I just want them! Nothing else is inspiring me lol. What do you do to get out of a rut?

NOTD: Gilded Mint!

I didn’t want to do anything too Easter-y, but I’ve been really into pastels AND I got my awesome gold and silver leaf in the mail last week! So this happened!

My base is two coats of China Glaze At Vase Value. I LOVE this color… probably because it’s mint and I love mint, especially this time of year. I wanted to make it a little festive, so I added the gold leaf. I got it on Amazon, and I applied it like I would apply studs. First I put some clear polish on the spots that I wanted to leaf to stick to, then I added the leaf (with some new slanted tweezers that I got on Amazon too! ), and sealed it with Essie Good To Go.

I was originally going to do different colors on each nail, but I loved the mint too much lol What do you guys think?

NOTD: A Little Bit of Glitter and A Little Bit of Matte!

I decided to kind of recreate a mani I did around the same time last year (before I rebranded my blog).

glitterandmatteI did switch it up a bit, plus my shape this time is wayyy better. I’m learning!

So, my pointer and middle are two coats plus dabbing of Deborah Lippmann Stronger. This is still one of my favorite glitters (this picture does not do it justice) and I cannot wait to wear it more often during the holidays! My ring and pinky are two coats of China Glaze Deviantly Daring, then topped with NYC Matte Me Crazy. Love this polish even more once it’s matte. It really bring out the sparkle and looks super metallic.

What do you guys think?

NOTD: Metallic and Nude Ruffian!

By now you all know that I’ve been in a horrible nail rut…but I finally did something that I loved!

The base colors is Nails Inc. Chelsea Bridge Road, and the color I used over it is Orly Pure Porcelain, two coats for opacity. Then I topped it off with Essie Good To Go.

I love this mani! So pretty and simple. I can totally see this as a perfect wedding mani.

What do you guys think?

Deborah Lippmann Fall 2014 New York Marquee Collection Preview!

Deborah Lippmann is getting ready for fall! I, for one, am so not ready for that yet.

These are all metallic/chrome finishes. The colors are lovely jewel tones, perfect for fall. Not sure how original they are, but they’re pretty!

Will you be picking any of these up?
