NOTD: Birthday Nails!

It’s my birthday! So, I decided to stop being lazy and actually do a NOTD!

ZoyaAbby | by themani-ac

Let me preface by saying that I haven’t done anything with my nails in forever. I’ve been in a bit of a rut, plus I’ve been loving Zoya Blu lately. I decided to finally try one of the new Zoyas that I got… this is Abby.

So, here I have two coats of Abby, once that was dry, I used my silver leaf and created this gradient. I topped everything off with Essie Good To Go.

In terms of Abby, itself, this was the first time I used it, and I’m liking it more than I thought I would. That sounds silly, because… I bought it… why wouldn’t I like it?! But, I’ve been leaning towards blues and just didn’t think this warmer purple would suit me, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It is a thinner formula, but covers nicely and dries super fast. It’s also very shiny without a top coat. So pretty, I love it.

Zoya 2017 Earth Day Haul!

I received my Zoya Earth Day purchase last week! This is what I got…

From left to right: Cecelia, Rue, Jill, Blu, Abby and Cathy

A lot of neutrals this time around. I saw swatches of Jill and Cathy when that collection came out and wrote them down for the next sale. I’ve also been wanting Rue for the longest time, but it was sold out the last time I made a Zoya purchase. I love a good blue, so Blu was a pretty obvious choice. I’ve also had my eye on Cecelia for quite some time. As for Abby, I needed a pastel purple in my life.

So far, I’ve tried Blu and Rue. Blue is beautiful, super smooth and opaque in two coats. It was also really shiny before I even put on a top coat. Rue is a thinner formulation, I needed three coats for the opacity I was looking for, but it dries quickly and evenly. I’m actually wearing Rue right now and loving it.

Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase, and I can’t wait to use more of them! Did you get anything from the Zoya Earth Day promotion? If not, you still have time! Use code EARTHLUV to get 50% off your purchase of 6 or more polishes (max 24). You also get free shipping! I actually also got a sample size of Zoya Remove+ Nail Polish remover! NOTD: Springtime Silver!

Two NOTDs in the same week?! What is happening?!

springtimesilver | by themani-ac

My base is one coat of Zoya Purity, then I sponged on more Purity, Zoya Megan and China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle. The sponging created a soft, almost gradient effect for my background. After that was set, I topped it with Seche Vite and let it dry. Once dry, I applied thin coats of Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat to random parts of my nail (one nail at a time) and then added the silver leaf. I just used my finger to apply it and rub it in to create that distressed-ish effect.

I was very in the mood for it to be spring already, and this was very fitting for that. I love the color combo of that minty blue/green and metallic silver. What do you think?

NOTD: Blue and Gold!

Another NOTD?! What is happening?! Getting back in the groove…

blueandgold | by themani-ac

My base is two coats of Zoya Mallory, it’s a creamy royal blue. I hadn’t used this polish yet, but it caught my eye when I was looking through my stash for some inspiration. I was debating about what to do, then I decided to keep it simple and to add some some gold striping tape. I love doing combinations of single and double lines, it reminds me of the midi rings that I love so much! I topped it off with Seche Vite.

I really like this royal blue and gold combo, simple but interesting enough so I don’t want to redo my nails the next day lol what do you think?

NOTD: Rose Gold Half Moons!

Ah yissss, love me some rose gold!

My base is two coats of Zoya Purity, and then I freehanded some half moons with ILNP Juliette. Topped everything off with Essie Good To Go. Juliette is such a gorgeous holo rose gold glitter, I try to use it every change I get.

Very simple, but I love it! What do you think?

NOTD: Watercolor!

I thoroughly enjoyed my last marble, so I decided to do another, more colorful version!

I’m also tired of snow and ready for spring and summer.

Anyhow, my base for all nails is two coats of Zoya Purity topped with Essie Good to Go. On my thumb, pointer and pinky I created this watercolor effect with Paula Dorf Perfectly Purple, China Glaze Too Yacht Too Handle and Zoya Talia. What I did was thin out each color with some acetone, then apply it to the nail in patches. Then I took more acetone and blobbed it on to thin out the color and create the effect.

I thought it would be too much to do on all the nails so I left my middle and ring fingers white and added the triangle studs. Then topped everything with another coat of Good to Go.

I looooove how the watercolor effect comes out, and it’s super quick and easy! What do you think?

Zoya Alicia Swatches and Review!

The third polish that I tried from my Zoya haul was Alicia!

zoyaalicia

Here I have three coats of Alicia, over Zoya Purity. In three coats it’s a pretty full coverage glitter. It does lay very flat and doesn’t get bumpy when it dries. It doesn’t eat up top coat, and stays nice and smooth.

I was only going to do one coat, but I felt that it wasn’t very even, so I kept adding more! I feel like there’s almost too much glitter in one coat, so it gets a little patchy.

It does have some holo glitter in there, my camera did not want to pick it up, but it’s really most obvious in sunlight. Even without the holo, I love this poilsh! Especially with the three coats, it’s so pretty.

Black Friday Zoya Haul!

Woo! I got my Black Friday Zoya order about a week or so ago, so I thought I’d share it with you!

zoyahaul2016

I ended up with 9 polishes, the first 5 are from the fall/winter Urban Grunge collection, but here are all the polishes that I got:

  • August- Blue toned grey
  • Mallory- Prussian blue
  • Merida- Evergreen with scattered holo
  • Alicia- Linear holo with a touch of gold
  • Finely- Royal purple with scattered holo
  • Eastyn- Greyed mauve
  • Ireland- Muted olive green
  • Purity- Pure white
  • Willa- Black

Mallory and August from Urban Grunge are their new one coat cream formulation. So, you should be able to get fully opaque coverage with one coat. I did try both of them, and you totally can pull it off in one coat, but I always prefer two thinner coats, that’s just me. They do dry super fast, so if you’re a one coater, these polishes can get you out the door even faster. They’re both beautiful, smooth, even formulas.

When I saw that Zoya had come out with a polish called Merida, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to have it. It’s so pretty and perfect for the holidays. I’d probably buy it for the name, regardless of the color though lol. Letting my Disney nerd flag fly!

I saw live swatches of the entire collection before I decided on anything and Finely completely stood out because it’s basically a galaxy in a bottle. Same thing with Alicia, I saw the live swatch and needed it!

The last two actual colors were Eastyn and Ireland. Originally I was going to get Rue, but it was sold out at the time. I ended up looking at so many swatches to see what I should get as a replacement and found Eastyn, which I ended up liking better because it was less pink than Rue. I also realized that there is a huge gap in my collection and I didn’t have a proper olive green, so Ireland came to be mine!

And finally, any time there is a Zoya promo, I usually end up getting another Willa and Purity. They are my favorite black and white polishes, so I like to be stocked up at all times.

So that’s that. Honestly, I would have totally bought more if I could’ve decided on colors. The deal was too good to pass up. Make sure you keep an eye out for Zoya deals over the holidays, they usually have some BOGO deals, promos and free shipping.

Did you get anything from Zoya for Black Friday?
