NOTD: Turquoise and Seashells!

I was finally feeling like it was time for a summery mani, about time too since it was the end of August (September by the time this is posted)!

shellsandturquoise

The base on my pointer and pinky is two coats of Zoya Purity, on my middle, ring and thumb it’s two coats of China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle and topped it with Essie Good to Go. Once that was dry, I took some Zoya Willa (black), thinned it out with some nail polish thinner and added it in drops. Then I took some acetone and dropped some on to the black to create that veining. When that was dry, I used Zoya Ziv as the outline. For my white nails, I just added some gold seashells. Then I topped everything off with Essie Good to Go.

I loved how the turquoise look came out using the acetone technique! It’s super easy and you don’t have to worry about water marbling. What do you think?

My Summer 2016 Wish List!

Ever get in those moods where you’re just itching to buy stuff? I’m in that buying mood! Usually, when I want to just buy stuff, I never find anything to actually buy… which is probably a good thing lol. But this time I have a list! And I thought I’d share it with you!

  • Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner

$Bumble and bumble Super Rich Conditioner litre - Bloomingdale's

Yassss! I bought the 2 oz bottle a while ago to take with me while traveling. It’s lasted me three trips so far, still have some left, but every time I use it I fall in love with it. It makes my hair super soft, and I especially love the combo of this and the It’s A 10 Leave In spray. This is pretty pricey, $59, but for 33.8 oz, that’s not bad.. considering 2 oz is $10. Definitely going to buy this very soon, cannot wait!

  • Dolce Rosa Excelsa Eau de Parfum

Product Image

I first saw this in an Ulta magazine a month or so ago, I smelled it and that was it. Needed it! It’s light and floral, but not too sweet or flowery. I think it’s perfect for summer, and I actually want it specifically for a wedding that I have next month lol.

  • Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks

You may have heard that Urban Decay is changing up their lipstick lineup, getting rid of the Revolution lipsticks and replacing them with 100 (120 at Sephora) new lipsticks… the Vice lipsticks! I watched a swatch video and really liked some of the colors, they also come in 6 finishes: mega matte, comfort matte, cream. metallized, sheer and sheer shimmer. These new lipsticks are going to be $17 for .11 oz, which is a much better deal than the Revolution lipsticks which were $22 for .9 oz. I’m going to limit myself to buying 4 in one shot lol I think the first two I want are Uptight and Tilt, but it’s really tough to narrow down! These come out on June 5th.

  • Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer

INSTA-MATTE LIPSTICK TRANSFORMER

I haven’t actually looked at reviews for this yet, but it seems so cool! I’m really into matte lipstick at the moment, and I have a bunch of colors that I’d like to be matte, and this would do the trick! I’d be especially pumped to use this with my Rouge Louboutin lipstick.

  • Curling Iron

This one is iffy. Again, I have that wedding coming up and I think I need a larger barrel curling iron. I have a Remington conical wand, which I love, but I think it may be too small, it might do the job though, so I’m conflicted. Mind you, I don’t use heat tools unless it’s a special occasion, so why do I even need more?! Sigh.

I’ll honestly probably be getting the conditioner and perfume this weekend lol and I cannot wait!

What’s on your summer wishlist?

NOTD: Gradient and Palm Trees!

I was inspired by a picture I saw on Instagram, along with so many other summer manis, and I just love little palm trees.

gradientpalmtreesMy base is two coats of Zoya Purity, then I used MAC Mischievous Mint, Purity and China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy for the gradient. I did it like I usually do, with a regular makeup sponge. When that was dry I used Zoya Raven and free-handed the palm trees. Topped everything off with a coat of Essie Good To Go.

I love this one! This is probably one of my favorite manis at the moment. I’ve been wanting to get back into more hand painting so I was really happy with how the palm trees came out. What do you guys think?

Oh and what do you think of the lighting? Started using my new light box, and I think it’s much better.

Deborah Lippmann Limited Edition Summer Showers Set!

New from Deborah Lippmann!

ImageProxyIn this set you get 5 mini polishes: Chantilly Lace, Groove Is In The Heart, Umbrella top coat, Between The Sheets, I Know What Boys Like

This set is $29, which is a pretty good deal. It is limited editions, so I’m not sure how long it will be around. Jump on it while you can!

NOTD: Tropical Florals!

More inspiration! I’m so tired of this not warm weather that I thought I’d take my nails right into summer… I’m about ready to skip spring altogether!

tropicalfloralMy base is two coats of Zoya Sailor. For the flowers, I used some new nail art brushes and Zoya Purity, Zoya Arizona and Essie Snap Happy. For the leaves, I used the nail art brushes again and Essie The More The Merrier and OPI Amazon Amazoff. Then I used a dotting tool and Zoya Raven for the black dots in the middle of the flowers. I felt that my pointer and pinky were unfinished, so I added gold studs! Topped everything off with a nice coat of Essie Good To Go.

I’m seriously obsessed with these. I can’t stop looking at them and they make me feel like it’s not 30 degrees in the morning haha what do you guys think?

Happy Fourth of July!

I hope everyone’s day is filled with awesome BBQ and a lack of rain!

fourthofjulyThis mani is actually inspired by one that Color Club posted on Facebook.

Here’s what I did:

First I did two coats of Zoya Purity as my base. I actually did it the day before to make sure it was completely dry. Then I used striping tape to block off the lines. For the red I used Zoya Sooki, the blue is China Glaze Manhunt and the white dots are Purity again. And of course, Essie Good To Go as my top coat.

Doing all those pieces of tape was somewhat time consuming but I love how it came out. You can always use striping polish and avoid  using tape and doing the white base coat.

What do you guys think? Any of you doing nail art for today?

NOTD: China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy and mint accent!

If you saw my haul post the other day, you’d know that one of the polishes I got was CG Flip Flop Fantasy.. and of course, I couldn’t not use it right away!

flipflopfantasy

My base is two coats of CG Flip Flip Fantasy. This picture does not do it justice, it’s a neon salmony/coral/peachy color. So amazing. I really thought that it wouldn’t look good on me because I’m so pale, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

For the accent I used CG At Vase Value and some painters tape. I found that the painters tape was better than the matte tapes, but I did find it hard to get a nice, sharp point though. Also added that stud for funsies. Kind of looked like a tree for a minute and I wasn’t crazy about it but it grew on me (punny).

I also found out that Flip Flop Fantasy is an almost matte finish! I did not know this at all and loved it even more for it. So I also used a matte top coat of matte out my accent nail since At Vase Value is not matte.

So, I’m basically in love with Flip Flop Fantasy, totally understand what all the hype is about now lol

NOTD: Summer Chevrons!

It’s finally starting to feel like summer on the East Coast! I celebration I decided to do a super bright mani.

summerchevronsHere’s a list of the colors I used from top to bottom: Essie the More The Merrier, Zoya Arizona, Color Club Raspebrry Rush, Essie Maintain Avenue and OPI Amazon Amazoff.

I really liked the combination of Arizona, The More The Merrier and Amazon Amazoff from my last mani, and I really like them with the addition of that bright pink and blue.

I did this many freehand, basically just going color by color on all nails. Obviously that came out pretty sloppy, so after it dried (overnight) I went back and detailed with my nail art brushes. It took a little bit of time to get it just right, but worth it. Also topped everything off with Seche Vite to smooth it out and get that shone back.

You may notice that not all stripes are the same thickness… it was intentional! I like that they’re all just a little bit different. What do you guys think?
