Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks Swatches and Review!

This purchase was a very long time coming!

Left to right: Midi, Creeper, Maneater, Hutch and Alyssa

I decided to get 2 of the Ultra Mattes, that is what they are known for. I also got 2 Ultra Satins and I HAD to get an Ultra Metallic! So I have a nice mix.

colourpop3

I love them.

  • Midi is an Ultra Matte, it’s a soft neutral beige
  • Creeper is an Ultra Matte, it’s a classic blue red
  • Maneater is an Ultra Metallic, it’s a rose gold-ish neutral
  • Hutch is an Ultra Satin, it’s a blackened blackberry/raspberry color
  • Alyssa is an Ultra Satin, it’s a neutral, dusty pink. On me, this was a your-lips-but-better color.

The first question probably is ‘what is the difference between the mattes and satins?’…. honestly, the finish is pretty similar to me. The satin is supposed to be more of a velvety finish, it was a bit softer than the matte, but nothing crazy different. The mattes do dry a lot faster than the satin, it’s almost instant.

The metallic is also matte, but it stays metallic and shiny and amazing!

I’ve worn both Midi and Alyssa out, I found them both to last well. I did eat on both occasions and I did end up wiping most of it off lol, but I didn’t see a lot of product coming off when I was drinking.

They were both comfortable to wear, not too drying. Midi, being a matte, was definitely a bit more drying than Alyssa, a satin. If you’re sensitive to dryness, I would go with the satins.

Overall, I’m really happy with all of these and I cannot wait to wear them! Especially Hutch and Meaneater! All the colors are pigmented and lovely, and at $6 a piece you really cannot go wrong!

My Favorite Lip Colors for Fall!

Sponsored

Well, it officially feels like fall, and I’m so ready for sweaters, boots and fall makeup! So today, I though I’d share some of my favorite lip colors to wear in the fall!

Oxbloood

The quintessential fall/winter lip shade. The classic vampy red is perfect for the fall/winter season, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing it all over Instagram very soon. I love to pair a vampy lip with a strong cat eye. One of my favorites is NYX Alabama.

Nude

I love a good nude lipstick! Nude is perfect for day or nice, subtle or bold looks. I like using nude lipsticks any time I want to draw attention to my eyes. One to check out is Coquette by Lime Crime.

Dark berry

Dark berry shades are perfect for fall. While oxblood is more brown based, berries are more pink based. This is another great one to pair with a simpler eye look. If you’re looking for a really dark, berry toned lippie, I suggest NYX Vixen.

Brown

I’ve recently come to love brown shades, and I think they are perfect for fall, especially if you’re looking for a more 90s, grungy look. Sometimes I’ll use browns in place of nudes, and I especially love them with a metallic eye. My  favorite is Urban Decay 1993.

So, there you have it! My favorite lip shades for fall, and now that it’s really hitting 60 degree weather, I’m so ready to wear all of them! what are some of your favorite shades for fall?

This is a whopping 11 piece collection! It’s filled with old favorites and some new products that will probably make it onto your favorites list as well.

Products that I already love:

  • Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination: I use this every day for my under eye area and really anywhere else I need some extra coverage. I use light normally, and sometimes medium as a color corrector for dark circles. This set comes with all four shades: Light, Medium, Tan and Deep.
  • Bye Bye Makeup: This is a makeup removing balm and it’s amazing! I love it. It removes makeup, cleanses and leaves your skin feeling clean and moisturized.
  • Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Treatment: This is like a lip balm, it’s super moisturizing. I’ve been reaching for it a lot lately.
  • CC+ Skin Perfecting Brush: This is a fluffy brush, I find it really great to use with liquid foundations to buff and blend. You can also use it for powder foundation or setting powder.

Some new products in this set:

  • Bye Bye Pores Primer: I’ve been using this since I got it and I love it! It really shrinks your pores and gives you a nice base to apply all your makeup. I could wear it on it’s own, honestly… it’s that good. It also smells just slightly coconut-y, which is nice.
  • Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream: Also started using this when I got it. I use it in the morning to help de-puff, because I have a lot of puff in the morning. No drastic results yet, but I’m going to keep using it. Honorable mention: it’s blue!
  • Bye Bye Lines Serum: I haven’t used this yet, but it’s an anti-aging concentrate that is supposed to deliver 10 power results in just 10 days- reduce the appearance of ine lines and wrinkles, improve the tone, texture, firmness, elasticity and suppleness, along with moisturizing and brightening skin.
  • Anti-Aging Armour: I haven’t used this yet either, but it’s your key to complexion perfection and skin protection in one step. It has color correcting pigment and  SPF 50+ to protect from UVA and UVB rays. It will even moisturize!

Phew! That’s a lot of products! If you’re in Sephora make sure to check out It Cosmetics and look for this set!

Lip Care 101!

Sponsored

Sometimes lip care doesn’t even get on the beauty routine, so here are my lip care basics:

Exfoliate:

Exfoliating helps get rid of dry/ dead skin, which is always a good idea especially if you’re a fan of matte lipsticks. Matte lipsticks can often accentuate any dryness on the lips, so I always make sure to use a lip scrub before I wear anything matte. You can find lip scrubs everywhere these days, Lush has some great ones and I love the one from GlamGlow. You can even DIY your own.

Moisturize:

Lips, just like all other skin, need moisture. It’s really important to moisturize your lips after you exfoliate or just any time that they are dry, and especially in drier seasons, like winter, where the dry air and cold can wreak havoc on lips. I keep lip balm with me at all times. I have multiple in my purse, room, bathroom and even office at work. There are tons of choices for lip balm, from the classic Chapstick to the super popular (and cute!) EOS lip balm spheres.

The ways to maintain healthy, beautiful lips are among the most important beauty tips of all! Don’t ignore your lips, give them the love they deserve!

Switching Up Lip Products to Transition from Summer to Fall

Sponsored

Those lazy days of summer are almost behind us and soon we’ll be moving into gorgeous fall weather. For a lot of ladies, that means a change up in their makeup routine, particularly when it comes to what they’re wearing on their lips. But if you’re not ready to let go of those last glorious days of summer, don’t fear! We’ve got some ideas here to help you make the transition beautifully, capitalizing on the summer lip products you’ve probably already been using all season long.

Stains

A stain is a style of lip product that is often used in the summer, as it holds up against high temperatures and lasts all day. It even stays on in the water, making it ideal for the pool or beach. Because it is often used in the summer, lip stain colors tend to be bright and punchy, like coral or hot pink. Transition your favorite stain from summer to fall by layering it underneath your favorite lipstick for a deeper, richer color.

Liners

Lip liner is a great product to start incorporating as the summer months end, as it takes whatever color you already wear and bumps it up a notch. Where as you may look for a soft, casual lip for summer, lining your lips in the fall adds definition and drama, giving a look that is perfect as the weather gets crisp. Bonus tip: opt for liners in autumn shades like burgundy, auburn and purple.

Matte Vs Shine

Think about the visual effect you want as we move into fall. Shiny lipsticks are common in the summer, but tend to fade as the temperatures cool off. A matte lip is much more suited to fall, which tends to lean to more muted colors or deep reds. If you can’t give up the shine, stick to shiny lipsticks in traditional fall colors and ditch the summery pinks.

Gloss

Gloss is a go to product for most ladies in the summer, as you can often apply your favorite gloss with nothing underneath and still achieve a long lasting look that really scores at the beach or poolside. EOS Lip Balm has been a consistent favorite when it comes to “going nude”. It’s not, however, such a hot look for fall. If you’re not ready to give up that fave gloss, just layer it over an auburn lipstick or a ruby red matte color. This way you’re moving into the fall palette while holding onto those last notes of summer.

All the pretties!

Unboxed!

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites10

This is the new supersize CC+ Illumination Color Correcting Illuminating Full Coverage Cream SPF 50+. This is formulated with Drops of Light Technology, and is your anti-aging serum, moisturizing day crea. skin-perfecting primer, skin brightening serum, color corrector, full coverage foundation and SPF 50+ all wrapped up into one. And that’s a mouthful!

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites11

It has a pump! That might just be one of my favorite parts.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites6

So, the consistency is pretty thick, very reminiscent to a full coverage foundation. If you compare it to the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream, it is definitely thicker. To apply, I found it easiest to dot it around my face, then blend with a beauty blender or the new Heavenly Skin CC+ Skin Perfecting brush. It blends out nicely and very evenly. The coverage is medium but can be layered for full coverage. I use a little less than one pump for my entire face.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites7

Just so you can see those Drops of Light Technology…. it’s shimmer! You can’t really see it when you first apply, you just look dewy, but as it comes off throughout the day, the shimmer becomes more apparent.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites12

This is the new Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Lip Color Wakening Lip Treatment. It’s a hydrating lip treatment that contains essential butters and oils.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites13

It looks like it has a pink tint, but it’s clear like a lip balm. Something interesting about it…it smells like perfume! It goes on just like a balm, it’s hydrating but I don’t see any color payoff. One of my favorite parts is that the cap is magnetic! No worrying about this opening up in your purse! But a downside that I found was when applying, if you press too hard, it slides back into the tube. Not sure if it’s just the tube that I received though.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites14

This is Tightline 3-In-1 Black Primer-Eyeliner-Mascara… as the name states, it’s your primer, eyeliner and mascara all in one!

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites15

The wand is super small, and that is so you can get it super close to the roots of your lashes, which lays pigment and ‘lines’ your top lash line. I really like this as a primer for other mascaras. I use this to lengthen my lashes, which it does really well, and it lines my lashes, then I top it with a volumizing mascara.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites5

This is the Heavenly Skin CC+ Skin Perfecting brush, it’s super soft, it’s not super dense but it is packed with bristles.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites8

Here is a comparison of the Heavenly Skin Bye Bye Pores Powder brush (left) and the  new Heavenly Skin CC+ Skin Perfecting brush (right). You can see that the Pores Powder brush is rounder, more domed and denser. The Skin Perfecting brush is fluffier and a bit flatter.

ITitsyourcustomerfavorites9

Size-wise the Pores Powder brush is just bigger overall.

I tried both with the CC+ Cream and found that the Skin Perfecting brush did work better with the liquid.

Overall, this is a great collection, I can totally see why these are customer favorites! You can find this set on QVC today, with special pricing! Go and check it out, these might become your new favorites too!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Tilt!

If you read my Summer Wish List post, you’ll know that I’m super excited for the new Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks to come out! But one thing I forgot to mention is that all Revolution lipsticks are now 50% off everywhere! So, I obviously had to go and look.

UDRevolutionTiltUDRevolutionTilt2

Tilt is one of the Vice lipsticks that I was itching to buy, so I was super excited to see that the Revolution version wasn’t sold out because I grabbed it for $11!

Tilt is a corally color, matte finish. It’s very comfortable on the lips, I don’t find it too drying and it lasts very well.

I highly suggest going to your Ultas and Sephoras and anywhere else that sells Urban Decay, check out what’s left and grab what you can at the discount. I’m still really excited about the Vice launch and I’ll probably be picking up at least two lol

Oh and happy June!

House of Beauty Lip Hybrids Swatches and Review!

I don’t even remember when I first saw or heard about these, but I rediscovered them a few weeks ago and had to buy them right away.

HouseofbeautyliphybridsHouseofbeautyliphybrids2

The colors that I got.

Houseofbeautyliphybrids3

I wanted to show you the viscosity of the lip hybrid.

Houseofbeautyliphybrids4

These are the colors that I got:

  • Pretty Natural– a pale rosy brown, sets to a satin finish
  • Kathryn– a rose taupe, sets to a semi matte finish
  • Iron Rose– metallic rose with burgundy undertones, sets to a metallic semi matte finish
  • Sienna– a red toned brown, sets to a semi glossy finish
  • Gothica– a deep burgundy with plum undertones and red shimmer, sets to a semi glossy finish
  • Midnight– rich plum with purple shimmer, sets to a satin finish

The Lip Hybrids come in a lot of different finishes: satin, semi matte, semi glossy, metallic semi matte, foiled satin, high gloss, sparkly satin finish and semi metallic satin. (I think that’s it lol) I tried to get a variety of finished to try out.

There are over 100 colors to choose from and believe me… it’s super hard to choose. I decided to go with colors I knew that I’d wear. I really wanted the gold one called Treasured buuuut I knew I wouldn’t actually wear it. So I went with more neutral colors and vampy colors (basically opposites lol).

As you can see these come in clear jars, like the ones you get when you buy pigments or loose eye shadows. So, you need to have something to apply them with. I use a lip brush I have from OCC.

These have a texture similar to OCC lip tars, but they are ‘stickier’, more viscous. Similarly to lip tars, you only need a small amount. You can layer them for more opacity or use less for just a wash of color. The color does depend on your lip color, if you have pigmented lips, you may want to use foundation or concealer to neutralize your lip color so the true color of the lip hybrid will come through. I tried thee over bare lips and concealed lips… I prefer them over the concealer.

They are supposed to have a wear time of 4-8 hours. They do transfer so the wear time will depend on what you’re doing. The first one I wore is Sienna. I put it on at around 7pm, went out.. ate, drank and wiped my face multiple times (wings, go figure) and just had a stain left by 10:30. By 11:30 it had faded pretty completely. With all the eating and wiping, I’d say that’s still not bad. If you aren’t going to be eating or drinking, they will last longer.

I haven’t worn these much, but so far I’m really liking them. I’m really pumped to dry the darker colors. Have you tried any kind of ‘lip hybrid’?

NYX Liquid Suede Vintage and Soft-Spoken Swatches and Review!

I’ve been waiting forever for these to be back in stock at Ulta! I finally got my hands on them!

NYXLiquidSuede

Vintage on top, Soft-Spoken on the bottom

NYXLiquidSuede3NYXLiquidSuede2

Close up of the brush. It’s a weird shape, kind of like a… rabbit’s foot, maybe? It’s flat on one side, but pretty long, longer than an average doe foot applicator. I found it very confusing to work with the first time I used it, but got the hang of it pretty quickly. It does pick up a lot of product.

NYXLiquidSuede4

Vintage is like a dark red/brown, kind of berry color. Soft-Spoken is a soft, peachy-brown.

NYXLiquidSuede5

Just for reference, in case you were wondering, Soft-Spoken is not a dupe for Urban Decay 1993. It looks like Soft-Spoken is darker, but it’s actually the reverse! 1993 is darker on the lips.

So, I wore Vintage the first day that I got it, I was just too excited! It dries to a nice matte finish, it takes a little while to fully dry though. I found it to be very comfortable on the lips, not drying at all. I wore it for a good 5 hours, I was eating and drinking, and it actually lasted very well. I didn’t see too much fading by the end of the night, I’m not one to reapply lipstick so I was pretty impressed with the staying power.

Overall, I really like these, I’m super excited to wear them and I might even be picking up more for spring!

Have you tried these? What do you think?

This is the new supersize CC+ Veil Cushion Compact Foundation (also comes with a refill cartridge!). This is an SPF 50+, sheer to medium coverage foundation. It’s a foundation, anti-aging serum, moisturizer and primer all in one! This is in the shade light, but I have three shades to show you below!

You might notice that this looks like a sponge, and that’s because it is! It takes a bit of getting used to, if you don’t press your brush into it hard enough you won’t get that much product.

Angled Radiance Creme Brush for all your blush needs!

YourMostBeautifulSkin7

CC+ Creme Blush in Je Ne Sais Quoi.

YourMostBeautifulSkin8

Blurred Lines Lipstick in new shade Je Ne Sais Quoi!

YourMostBeautifulSkin9

These are the foundation colors that I received. You can see a pretty significant difference between the light and fair. I was actually a bit surprised to see that light was close to medium. I’m definitely fair, but I can see using the other shades to slightly contour.

The formula is lightweight, doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all. I dotted it all over my face with my finger first and then buffed it in with the Heavenly Luxe Dual-Ended Complexion Perfection Brush. It is pretty light coverage, but you can definitely build it up. I think I needed about two thin coats to get the coverage that I like. The finish is matte, it’s goes from liquid to powder as you buff it in. I think that would be great for oily skin!

This foundation didn’t cake up on me during application, even in my drier spots. After a few hours of wear, I did start to notice some dry patches, but I did not use any moisturizer or primer for initial testing purposes. But if you do have dry skin, I suggest moisturizing and priming before any foundation.

YourMostBeautifulSkin10

The CC+ Creme Blush and Blurred Lines Lipstick are both in the same color, Je Ne Sais Quoi, which IT says is the perfect pink for all skin tones and ages.

The blush is pretty sheer, which is good, because when you open it, it looks super bright! It adds just the perfect hint of color to your cheeks. If you like a stronger blush, you can build up the color as well.

The lipstick is also on the sheer side but definitely buildable. When first applied it gives you that your-lips-but-better color, then you can build it up to a very pretty pink (and I’m not even a fan of pinks!). What I enjoy most is the smell! It’s like a slight cocoa scent, very very nice. It’s also very moisturizing on the lips.

Overall, another great TSV from IT! I especially love that it comes with two brushes and refill for the foundation. I’m also really loving the lipstick and excited to start using the blush (I’m a blush nube lol).

This is the QVC Today’s Special Value today, January 16, 2016!
